ReCycle is a bike program for 6th-8th grade students which teaches bike safety and proper bike mechanics with the help of adult and student mentors. The bikes are donated by the Clark County Sheriff Department and the City of Springfield Police Department. Students select the bike they wish to work on and customize it with colors they choose for the tires and handle grips. Once the student completes the program, they have a safe bike they can call their own to use for transportation, exercise and just fun! The students also have the skill set needed to maintain and fix their bike when necessary. CHF has supported the program for several years and recently granted $5,000 for ReCycle.
