Community Health Foundation’s funding of the Ridership program helped provide weekly therapeutic riding activities to serve 30 individuals with disabilities. One such rider is Scarlett whose journey with epilepsy has been challenging, marked by frequent seizures despite multiple medical interventions. According to Scarlett’s mom, this ongoing battle takes its toll, often leaving Scarlett feeling anxious and withdrawn, and struggling with communication and confidence issues. However, her experience with equine therapy has been nothing short of transformative. Meeting her horse Ruby provided Scarlett with a sense of connection and support she had not experienced. Ruby’s intuitive understanding of Scarlett’s needs, especially on difficult days, is remarkable. Since starting equine therapy, Scarlett has shown tremendous progress; her confidence has grown and is evident in her interactions at school and beyond.
