CHF staff were pleased to attend Second Harvest Food Bank’s 4th annual Harvest Breakfast – The Power of Community. SHFB is a part of the Feeding America network and the keynote speaker was Erika Thiem, chief supply chain officer for Feeding America. The breakfast also featured a panel discussion by local food pantry operators who distribute food supplied by SHFB to our community members; 60,786 persons were served by the 60 pantry operators last year.

CHF recognizes the need for hunger support in our community and the importance of nourishing food in growing and sustaining healthy children and adults. Community Health Foundation funding supported SHFB student programs which provided 1,727 meals at sit down sites, 51,700 meals at grab and go sites and 8,340 weekend backpacks which students take home to ensure they have nutritious food over the weekend.
