A community nonprofit is helping alleviate the food desert on Springfield’s south side. The Visioning Garden has 16 families tending a garden plot and 163 individuals involved in its upkeep.

Making the garden site beautiful and accessible has increased its visibility in the neighborhood and beyond.  Most evenings, children who live nearby kick a soccer ball around or play in the sandbox at the garden.  The children are interested in the garden plots and often jump in to help-offering to plant, weed, water and harvest.  To follow the visioning garden at Facebook, visit https://www.facebook.com/springfieldpromise/

Community Health Foundation is happy to support the garden and the healthy produce and families the garden grows.
