October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month and locally, Project Woman of Ohio works to fight domestic violence and to support victims of domestic abuse. Domestic abuse is not just physical violence, it also includes emotional, psychological, financial, and sexual abuse. It is about power and control. Project Woman works to support survivors by offering them programs and services and works to raise community awareness by shining a light on the issue of domestic violence and abuse.
Community Health Foundation supports the work of Project Woman by helping to fund its community advocacy and education programs. In the last year, Project Woman partnered with local high schools and college campuses to provide prevention education and awareness to 1,230 students, and educated 4,459 community members while providing empowerment classes to 299 survivors.
