Together we build a stronger community.
For 21 years, On-The-Rise, a non-profit organization which operates a small farm, has sought to build life, social, and job readiness skills in under-served youth of Clark County. They utilize many types of multi-sensory learning, including tactile experiences to help the youth retain what they are taught. On-the-Rise strives to instill a strong work ethic and responsibility in the youth engaged in its program by allowing them to maintain the farm, feed, water and care for the goats and chickens and market the farm’s products.
During the winter, you can find On-the-Rise at the Market at Mother Stewart’s. Then, from the first Saturday in June to the last Saturday in September, youth are employed to sell brown eggs, poultry products and goat meat from the On-the-Rise booth at the Springfield Farmer’s Market. Working at the market reinforces the life, social, and job readiness skills the On-the-Rise staff emphasize. The staff actively strive to produce working individuals by teaching the importance of punctuality, appropriate dress, product knowledge, accurate money handling and effective customer service through conversation.
Community Health Foundation is pleased to help support On-the Rise’s operations by providing funding to this impactful organization for 10 years.
