Community Health Foundation provided a healthy opportunity grant of $12,500 for general operating support.  The Literacy Center is a small budget organization making a major impact in our community.  This year, 69 volunteers logged over 2,500 hours with 60 of those serving on a regular basis.  With the support of these volunteers, the Literacy Center helped 43 adult English speakers of other languages and 29 adult basic literacy students learn to read and to improve their English language skills.  The Teaching Children to Read program had 80 students enrolled so in total, the Literacy Center helped 152 children and adults read and improve their English skills.
