Community Health Foundation provided a $10,000 grant to their Brighten the Block program to support housing improvements for low-income, owner-occupied homes in southwest Springfield in an effort to provide safe housing and to stabilize the neighborhood.
1159 replaced defective and deteriorating fencing, handrails, posts, roofing soffits and fascia and completely rebuilt a porch structure, including footings and posts. A proud homeowner, happy with her repairs, is pictured. Lori Searcy, co-founder and president of 1159 South CDC said, “we are grateful for your support that has enabled 1159 South to continue improving the health, safety, and living conditions of vulnerable residents in underserved neighborhoods.”
