Community Health Foundation’s Annual Celebration Will Be Held Wednesday, March 15th, 2017
The human side of health care will be the focus of Community Health Foundation’s annual reception on Wednesday, March 15th, 5:30 PM at the Hollenbeck-Bayley Conference Center.
“Looking for Laughter in All the Wrong Places” is the topic of guest speaker Scott Burton. A headliner at comedy clubs and corporate events across the country, Scott was diagnosed at the age of 30 with a high-grade osteosarcoma above his right knee. His treatment included the partial removal of his thighbone and seven months of chemotherapy. Scott uses refreshing honesty and humor to tell the tale of his own cancer battle, and in doing so, empowers and entertains his listeners. His audience soon sees that his is not a story about cancer, but a story about life. It is a story about finding perspective, finding our hearts, our laughter and humanity – within the cancer battle and beyond. Scott believes that the gift of laughter helps everyone struggling with health and life challenges. “I felt, and still do, that each moment laughing is a moment you are – if only for a second – in love with life.”
The evening begins with a social time that includes live music, cocktails and heavy hors d’oeuvres, and continues with Scott’s program. The reception is open to everyone. Reservations may be made through the Community Health Foundation office at 200 Medical Center Drive (Phone: 523-7002), or by emailing BSutter@mercy.com. The cost of attendance is $25 per person if payment is received by March 3rd. Payment of $35 will be accepted after March 3rd or at the door.
